About the Role
Join our team as Second Nature’s next Senior Full-Stack Engineer, where you'll take a leadership role in designing and developing scalable software solutions that power our business. Reporting to the Principal Engineer, you'll work closely with product, design, and engineering teams to deliver impactful, high-quality systems. As a senior engineer, you'll drive projects from concept to completion, ensuring they meet performance, reliability, and scalability goals.

More About You
- 5+ years of experience programming in a production environment (language agnostic—Python, TypeScript, Java, etc.).
- 5+ years experience working on frontend and backend environments.
- 5+ years experience working with React for UI development.
- 5+ years experience working on CSS.
- Familiarity w Next & Nest
- 5+ years experience with API development. NestJS.
- NextJS/React - Frontend
- Experience with AWS, GCP or Azure, Cloud Engineering/architecture
- Familiarity w Docker & container orchestration
- Familiarity with CI/CD and building pipelines in (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Circle Ci, etc.)
- Strong understanding of software design patterns and best practices.
- Expertise with fundamental data structures and algorithms.
- Extensive experience with relational databases and a proven track record of optimizing queries for performance.
- Champion and advocate for test-driven development by promoting and writing clean, maintainable code that stands the test of time.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment.
- Passion for continuous learning and improvement in software engineering.
What to Expect in Your First 90 Days
First 30 Days: Fast Onboarding & Early Impact
- Get familiar with our frontend and backend systems.
- Set up your development environment and gain access to systems, repositories, and tools.
- Understand system architecture, APIs, and database structure.
- Fix your first production bug or contribute a minor enhancement within 2 weeks.
- Deploy your first feature or system improvement by the end of the month.
- Actively participate in code reviews, design discussions, and sprint planning.
Days 31-60: Owning Features & Driving Optimization
- Take ownership of a medium-complexity feature from design to deployment.
- Develop a solid understanding of your team’s domain and how it impacts the business.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues independently.
- Lead or contribute to engineering improvement initiatives.
- Provide mentorship to junior engineers.
Days 61-90: Fully Engaged
- Deliver a high-impact feature or architectural improvement.
- Own and drive a high-complexity, high-value feature from design to deployment.
- Proactively identify long-term optimization or automation opportunities.
- Drive engineering best practices across the team.
- Contribute to knowledge sharing and continuous learning initiatives.
- Develop an understanding of the company's other domains and how they work together to drive business value.
- Work closely with the team lead and product manager to ensure the team’s success and continuous improvement
